TIRANA, July 11 – Prime Minister Edi Rama held a conversation with the Expert of the European Center of the Atlantic Council, Rachel Rizzo, on “Systematic challenges to common values and interests” during the participation in the NATO summit in Vilnius on Tuesday.
Touching upon the situation in Kosovo, Rama said that what is happening in the north of the neighboring country is very dangerous and that the situation there could escalate to the point of conflict.
Rama said that while the EU mediation works in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, there is a third party that is emerging – the extreme groups in the north of Kosovo.
“I am very pleased that President Biden’s speech touched upon these topics in the Council today. The problem of the Western Balkans now in relation to security may not be of the same size as the great Ukrainian problem, but it is not so small as to be treated as something worthless,” said the Albanian PM.
According to him, what is happening in the region is really very dangerous as the north of Kosovo might become a hotbed with a threat of opening the conflict. “While the EU mediation works in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, there is a third party that is rising – the extreme groups in the north of Kosovo,” Rama warned. /argumentum.al
