The European Union has been the main target of harsh criticism by PM Edi Rama who blamed its ‘internal dynamics’ for failing to liberalize visas for Kosovars and the dragging of the accession process of Albania and North Macedonia with the Union.
Rama made these comments at the joint meeting of the governments of Albania and Kosovo which was held in Tirana on Friday.
It is a shame for the European Union not to liberalize visas for Kosovars, said in harsh tones the head of the Albanian government adding that Kosovo has been taken hostage by internal dynamics in certain EU countries.
“Kosovo has been taken hostage to electoral logic in various EU countries and it has to wait as elections end in one country and then when there are elections in another country,” said Rama who unveiled that he had talked at length about this topic. “I still cannot understand anything of what they say, but I understand that the reason is what they do not say. Kosovo pays with visa liberalization, Albania and Northern Macedonia pay with make-up stories according to the electoral configuration in one country and another, and the region pays in full,” he said.
That is why Rama expressed his convinction that regional cooperation is definitely an important discharge valve in terms of high and objective pressure on very small markets, which are divided from each other.
“The expansion and integration of markets in the region does not bring anything bad, on the contrary it brings more economy, employment and opportunities for peace or the final solution of the basic issue, which is the recognition of Kosovo by Serbia,” said Rama. /argumentum.al
