TIRANA, April 18 – The Supreme Court decided on Tuesday the extradition to Turkey of Faruk Ozer. Ozer was the manager of the company “Thodex” and allegedly defrauded more than 400,000 citizens, who invested in virtual currencies, but could not get the money back after the company suddenly blocked the operation.
Ozer is believed to have had $108 million worth of cryptocurrency codes with him at the time of his escape from Turkey.
He was arrested in Himara, southern Albania, together with two other people, residents of Vlora and Durrës.
The young Turk is charged with the criminal offenses of “Creation of a criminal organization” and “Fraud with serious consequences”.
The Istanbul High Court issued an arrest warrant in 2021 against the 28-year-old for creating a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme. /Argumentum.al
