US Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim has praised the seizure of 400kg of cocaine in Lipjan where the load was stopped by the Kosovo Police on Monday.
The large amount of drugs arrived at the port of Durrës, the largest in midwestern Albania, a few days ago, and as it is reported it was pursued by the Italian and Albanian police.
The drug shipment traveled to Kosovo and was stopped in Lipjan by the Kosovo Police. A search of the vehicle turned up a quantity of 400 kilograms of cocaine. After this operation, representatives of the Kosovo Prosecutor’s Office, SPAK from Albania and the Italian anti-mafia gathered in a live conference to tell about the results of this operation.
The representative of the Italian authorities said that it was very important to know the destination where this amount came from and where it would go.
“Yesterday’s seizure of 400kg of cocaine is the result of strong cooperation among 🇦🇱 🇽🇰 🇮🇹 🇺🇸. SPAK & Albanian State Police, with @DEAWashingtonDC, played an important role in this strike against international drug traffickers & organized crime,” wrote Ambassador Yuri Kim on Twitter on Monday.
The head of Albania’s highest investigative authority of serious crimes, SPAK, Arben Kraja, also spoke about this operation. He said that this event showed that crime has expanded the territory of action, but cooperation between states can fight it.
There is not yet any statements by Kosovo authorities and the US Embassy in Pristina.
