TIRANA, February 6 – The Albanian government immediately responded to the call for help, after the devastating earthquake on the border between Turkey and Syria that caused numerous victims, injuries and significant damage.
An aid mission from the Armed Forces of Albania and the National Civil Defense Agency, consisting of 53 medical personnel, search-rescue specialists and 7 vehicles, has left for Turkey, where they will participate in search and rescue operations. to ease the consequences of this tragedy.
The members of the team that will participate in this solidarity mission were greeted in a special ceremony, which was also attended by the Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi. Peleshi said that Turkey is a very important friendly country for Albania which it has continuously supported.
“Our little Albania will show that it is always ready to make its capacities available, because in an emergency we are already part of the European Civil Protection Mechanism, where we are not only to receive, but also to give,” said Peleshi as he thanked the Albanian team leaving for Turkey.
In the meantime, Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted to the earthquake that hit Turkey. “Deeply saddened by this morning’s news of the devastating earthquake that struck parts of Turkey and Syria. Our deepest condolences to the many families who lost their lives and we wish the injured a speedy recovery.
