TIRANA, September 10 – Albania’s data storage and transmission systems in the State Police have come under a cyber attack similar to the one suffered by e-Albania in July.
“Preliminary data show that the attack has
apparently been carried out by the same hand. Our experts, together with those of our partner countries, worked intensively from the first moment when the attack was detected to first guarantee the integrity of the data and then the neutralization of this criminal act,” said the announcement of the Interior Ministry on Saturday.
This was confirmed earlier by PM Edi Rama who said that it was the same attacker – Iran. Albania cut the diplomatic relations with Iran accusing it of the attack, and its mission has been closed.
According to the Interior Ministry, the Albanian systems, including TIMS, are temporarily closed until the risk is completely avoided.
“Very soon the TIMS system will return to work. We are fully determined, together with our allies, to continue working to do everything necessary to ensure that our digital systems are secure and that service to citizens is not interrupted in any case,” said the Interior Ministry. /Argumentum.al
