TIRANA, October 6 – The former deputy of the Socialist Party (SP), Alqi Bllako, who was in jail because he was found guilty of involvement in the mega scandal of incinerators, was released from prison on Thursday.
The court decided to change the sentence from jail to ‘house arrest’ for Bllako, who was behind bars after the charges for involvement in the scheme of the Fier incinerator.
Defense lawyer Sokol Hazizaj argued before the court that the entire investigative process had been exhausted and that the former MP Alqi Bllako had no opportunity to spoil the evidence, evade the investigation or influence the investigative process against him because he is not an MP anymore.
Among other things, the lawyer emphasized that the situation of his family is difficult. Bllako is the father of 2 children, 2 years old and 7 years old.
“The children did not have the necessary care after the arrest of Bllako as the mother is employed and moves around different districts of Albania,” said the defense lawyer.
The argument was accepted by the court which ruled that Bllako be taken home on Thursday. /Argumentum.al
