TIRANA, July 20 – The Assembly rejected the opposition’s demands for an urgent motion with and an urgent interpellation with Prime Minister Edi Rama on the issue of incinerators’ affairs on Thursday.
Before the vote in the plenary session of the Assembly, the last for the season, the deputy chairman of the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party (SP), Toni Gogu, said that the Assembly’s regulations do not provide for the urgent motion.
Quoting the regulation, Gogu said that the Assembly can decide by open vote in any case to hold the motion with debate, which cannot be held later than 30 days from the date of submission of the request. He demanded the rejection of the request for motion and interpellation because, according to him, “they are in violation of the regulation of the Assembly”.
The chairman of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party (DP), Gazment Bardhi, said that there is still no official announcement of SPAK or GJKKO about what happened with the request for the prison arrest of former MP Arben Ahmetaj.
“We don’t know if it has been approved or not, and I have appealed to SPAK for this. If it was approved by the court, why is it kept secret for the public opinion? Has the national search started? Has Arben Ahmetaj been declared internationally wanted? Regarding all these issues we have requested an interpellation with the Prime Minister of the country in accordance with the regulation,” said Bardhi.
DP deputy Zheni Gjergji, who had held a meeting with the medical students protesting in front of the Assembly, requested that they be part of the parliamentary session. She appealed to withdraw the bill on medical students.
During this plenary session, which held heated debates for more than 4 hours, the opposition MPs blocked the floor, demanding the fulfillment of their demands, but without any success as Assembly’s deliberations adjourned. /argumentum.al
