“Austria has always supported Albania on its path to the European Union and we hope that the First Intergovernmental Conference could open soon,” declared Austrian Ambassador to Albania Christian Steiner.
The Austrian ambassador made this statement in the northern city of Shkodra, where he was on the occasion of the “Austrian National Day”.
The Ambassador also spoke about the cooperation and achievements between the two countries over the years. The Ambassador said that investments have increased in various fields of economy and now also in education, opening schools as well as in Shkodra.
“As an Austrian Ambassador, I am very happy in Shkodra on the occasion of the Austrian National Day. Because of Covid we cannot organize the Austrian holiday,” he said.
“Austria has supported the Independence of Albania. We have a very long common history from many years. For 30 years after the fall of communism, we have developed relations in all areas,” he said, revealing that there are more than 50 Austrian companies that have invested in Albania today. “I must say that we have an Austrian school in Shkodra with 470 students and teachers from Austria and Albania.”
Asked by reporters if Austria supports Albania’s integration into the EU, the Ambassador said, “Austria has always supported Albania on its path to the European Union. We hope that the First Intergovernmental Conference could open soon.”
“We as Austria had the pleasure to be an intermediary bridge throughout the spring to coordinate the process of arrival of vaccines in Albania. As you can see, our relations are and have been very close as between Albania and Austria and between the EU and Albania,” said Ambassador Steiner. / Argumentum.al
