TIRANA, September 2 – The International Cultural Week of Azerbaijan has started in Tirana. Through a multitude of artistic activities, many concerts, exhibitions, and culinary experiences, these days have brought Azeri culture to the Albanian capital. During a meeting with a delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan, Farid Jafarov, who has arrived in Tirana for this purpose, the mayor of the Municipality, Erion Veliaj, said that the best cooperation between countries is the one that brings people together through art, culture and sport.
“I am very happy that, after the visits of Mr. Rama and Mr. Aliyev, the President of the Republic has also been to Azerbaijan; we now take the cooperation to another level. One way to do this, apart from our national leaders, is cooperation between people, between cities, between municipalities, between organizations and different cultural groups,” said Veliaj.
As the national leaders of these countries have paved the way for cooperation, it is our duty to focus on concrete projects, such as between Tirana and Baku, or even between different groups and organizations, Veliaj said, adding that he was really proud of every bridge that connects Baku and Tirana.
Deputy Minister Jafarov, for his part, underlined the fact that the cultures of our two countries have many points in common.
“Although the countries are thousands of kilometers apart, we have many common cultural points and values that we share together, such as tolerance and peaceful coexistence… I as the deputy Minister and you as the Mayor are doing everything to make this Cultural Week unforgettable for all citizens of Tirana and for all visitors to Tirana,” Jafarov said. /argumentum.al
