TIRANA, July 25 – The National Council of the Democratic Party (DP) has been called to meet on Thursday, July 27, at 19:00.
Gazment Bardhi, in the capacity of Secretary General, has announced that he has decided to call the National Council of DP. The decision taken by Bardhi on July 22, 2023, is based on the statute of the DP according to which when the party is without a leader, it is up to the General Secretary to call the meeting of the National Council.
Lulzim Basha who controls this faction of the split Democratic Party was chairman of the party before resigning, but he is trying to come to the leadership through his supporters and elections for the chairman will be held on July 29.
According to the decision taken by Bardhi, it is learned that the meeting of the National Council is expected to take place online and for its organization the General Secretary has tasked the Secretariat of the National Council.
The meeting of the National Council of the Democratic Party comes after the recent clashes in the DP. General Secretary Bardhi and 7 deputies and part of the National Council are part of one camp which does not recognize the electoral process announced by the Democratic Party on July 29 for the election of the chairman of this political force. In the other camp is a group of MPs and a part of the National Council who recognize the electoral process and have decided to remove the party seal from General Secretary Bardhi, entrusting it to the Secretary for Legal Affairs, Indri Sefa. /argumentum.al
