Taking the floor in the discussion of the 2022 draft government bill in Thursday’s parliamentary plenary session, the chairman of the opposition Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha turned down the statement of the Minister of State for Reconstruction, Arben Ahmetaj according to whom the draft budget and the social package of support for families and citizens in need is the major concern of the Socialist government.
Basha noted that the government has made law the propaganda slogan that they remember with nostalgia, ‘what the people say the party does’.
“The only result you produce is poverty, which threatens 50% of our fellow citizens, and depopulation, which is the most threatening plague of our society, which is shrinking and aging at breakneck speed, while the only priority you have is PPP and clientelistic concessions, accompanied by fraudulent vices such as those pointed out by the Supreme State Audit with road tenders without funds, with unforeseen procurements in the budget and not approved by parliament,” he said.
Basha added that the farmers who protest have rightly protested every year not to be in front of the only road where you lead them with your neglect – to throw away the products and leave Albania.
The deputy chairman of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku stated that she will propose on behalf of the Democratic Party an amendment to reduce the VAT on food basket products from 20% to 6%. In her speech in the Parliament, Tabaku said that 120 amendments have been presented by the DP in 9 years. / Argumentum.al
