The leader of the Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha said during the meeting of the College of Chairmen on Sunday that the Democrats are in this situation because of the decision that the DP parliamentary group took against the former Prime Minister, Sali Berisha. He told the participants that they should discuss responsibly and unite the DP in order to achieve electoral success.
“I repeated before the deputies what I told you at the last meeting: I am available for a solution. The solution is a process. We are not here because of mistakes but because of the September 9 decision,” Basha said. According to him, the group stood by the September 9 decision as they understand there is no chance for DP with a non grata. The veteran leader, Sali Berisha was expelled from DP parliamentary group because he was designated non grata by US State Department.”What’s worth to us today is a responsible discussion of the college of chairmen as this college carries the most weight.
The challenge is how to put the three partse of the party together. September 9 can not be undone if we do not want to undo DP. We have to show wisdom to unite DP, to achieve electoral success,” Basha said. The DP led by Basha has lost 6 elections since 2014 and the parliamentary group was in unison asking the chairman to resign at a meeting on Saturday./Argumentum.al
