This is what is said in the resolution adopted by the National Assembly of the DP on Saturday which endorsed the proposal of the Party Chairmanship that persons declared non grata by the US government should not have any leading position in the DP.
The chairman of the commission of the National Assembly of DP, Jemin Gjana stated that according to the data the Assembly has the vast majority of delegates gathered in the Palace of Congresses in Tirana with a figure of 5004 delegates out of 7600 which are the total in that party.
Gjana said that the decision to expel non grata persons from the leading positions in the Democratic Party is taken because the future of the country is “at a crossroads and the future of the Democratic Party is threatened by the echoes of the past”.
In his speech in the Assembly the current head, Lulzim Basha said DP wll be the cleanest party in Albania, not allowing in its ranks and in the leading bodies people who shame the Albanian society.
“For us to become convincing for the Albanians, for us to restore the trust of the Albanians in the Democratic Party, we must dare to tell them that how the DP will be today, Albania will be tomorrow,” said Basha.
According to him, people related to the painful history of Albanians that was the communist dictatorship will not be allowed in the leading structures of the Democratic Party. In addition, Basha said, people who violate the western orientation of Albania, populist deviations and blind nationalisms aimed at destabilizing the region and creating uncertainty for the future of Albania will not be allowed in the leading structures of the DP.
The above mentioned resolution endorsed by the Assembly said the calls in the December 11 Assembly convened by Sali Berishad have violated all the norms of the PD Statute that regulate its functioning and decision-making as a political institution.
The resolution further states that “the rally falsified and used the symbols and logos of the Democratic Party in flagrant violation of statutory and legal norms.”
On the other hand, a referendum on the dismissal of Lulzim Basha launched by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has invited Democrats to vote on a process whose result will be declared late on Saturday to dismiss the current DP head and restructure this political force. /Argumentum.al
