TIRANA, June 1 – The process of integration into the European Union, security and economic cooperation were the focus of the meeting held in Tirana on Thursday between president Bajram Begaj and his counterpart from Hungary, Katalin Novak, who is paying a two-day state visit to Albania.
During the joint media conference, after the bilateral meeting, Begaj expressed his gratitude to the Hungarian government for supporting Albania in the EU integration process.
“Hungary has unconditionally supported the integration of Albania and other Western Balkan countries into the European Union. In a special way, I thanked my Hungarian friend for the support within the framework of the First Intergovernmental Conference in July of last year and I expressed the belief that within this year, thanks to the Hungarian support, it will be possible to hold the second meeting,” said Begaj.
The President also focused on the importance of regional stability and the destabilizing factors that threaten the Western Balkans.
“I underlined the geopolitical importance of the Western Balkans region, especially in the new geopolitical conditions, where malicious actors seek to destabilize it, focusing in particular on the importance of supporting the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as the support of Kosovo to join international organizations, including the Council of Europe,” said Begaj. /argumentum.al
