TIRANA, August 7 – The Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha, on Monday considered the accusations against his family for profits in the tower behind the Opera and Ballet Theater in Tirana to be total slander and fiction, while he requested the cancellation of the permit for this object.
In a press conference, Berisha said that “the whole effort is to create a noise to extinguish the flames of the non-existent incinerator of Tirana.”
“During the government of DP, Sali Berisha did not give any permission for any tower. The plan approved by the National Council of Territorial Regulation in 2012 was for the construction of buildings with a height of 6-8 floors in the entire territory of Tirana,” he said, asking Rama to cancel the current permit immediately.
Speaking about the issue of incinerators, Berisha said that “authentic, official, original data prove that (Tirna Mayor) Erion Veliaj is the main author, together with Edi Rama, of the theft of the century with the Tirana incinerator.”
“These data, which are fully available from the Special Prosecutor’s Office, prove that, not once, but six times, the Ministry of Finance, first Shkëlqim Cani and later Arben Ahmetaj, have rejected the repeated request of six times for the construction of the Tirana incinerator as a request completely unaffordable from a financial point of view, which was confirmed with full responsibility a year ago by the High State Audit,” he said. /argumentum.al
