TIRANA, October 10 – The chairman of the Democratic Party (DP) Sali Berisha announced that there are no conditions to enter into talks with the democratic group headed by MP Enkelejd Alibeaj to come up with joint candidates for the local elections.
Albania will hold local power elections next May but no exact date has been set yet.
Before the meeting with non-parliamentary allies on Monday, Berisha told the media that he would not give up the primaries, as they were a condition for the existence of DP.
“There are no conditions. I welcome anyone who wants to run, propose, discuss and there is complete and total openness. I do not withdraw from the primaries because they are a condition of the existence of this force. No one asked us to withdraw from the primaries,” said Berisha.
DP’s Berisha held talks last week with the chairman of the Freedom Party (FP), Ilir Meta and they announced that they had reached agreement on running with joint candidates in the upcoming local power elections. /Argumentum.al
