The former veteran leader of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha, has again responded to the accusations of the Russian embassy in Tirana regarding the alleged offer of Gazprom to cancel the TAP gas pipeline project.
Berisha said that the Russians did everything to sabotage TAP in a talk show on a local TV on Saturday. Berisha said that Gazprom’s Russian representatives offered gas to Albania from Igoumenitsa, Greece, and investments worth 4 billion euros in power plants.”The Russians used all means to sabotage TAP. We, and I personally, did everything to make TAP happen. It could only be TAP if it crossed into Albania. If it deviated, it could not be TAP. We wanted Azeri gas. Albania did not accept Russian gas, not like Edi Rama who says that Russia is not our enemy,” said Berisha.
“Imagine if Edi Rama was in my position, how he would rush to tell Albanians that Vladimir Putin is a prominent friend,” said the former Prime Minister. /Argumentum.al
