TIRANA, April 12 – The meeting of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party (DP) on Tuesday was accompanied by debates as former PM Sali Berisha stood up asking to speak in front of the deputies but the leader of the group, Enkelejd Alibeaj did not give him the floor. But despite this fact, Berisha started to speak, and this made Alibeaj leave the hall.
After Alibeja left, Berisha continued to speak in front of the deputies, saying, among other things, that the deputies should not have control over the process. After this tense situation, a 10-minute break was requested, and then Alibeaj returned to the meeting.
In his speech, Berisha stated in front of the Democrats that the holding of the Assembly on April 30 should not be hindered
“There are problems in the branches for the elections. But this must be overcome in the future. So even though we may have problems now, little by little we will correct the road. But April 30 should not be blocked,” he said.
In a statement to the media, Berisha said that Alibeaj was tolerated very much, adding that he will no longer have the function of head of the DP group.
Berisha said that because of his action Alibeaj ceased to be the chairman of the parliamentary group. According to Berisha, his actions serve the government.
Asked if based on the decision taken on Tuesday against Alibeaj all those who have a contrary opinion with Berisha risk not being in the leading team, the former PM said that it is no longer a matter of opinion, but of action and that Alibeaj’s action is very wrong. /Argumentum.al
