TIRANA – “The Bank of Albania is committed to take facilitating measures beneficial for the business community and individuals,” the Governor of the Bank of Albania (BoA), Gent Sejko has told the President, Ilir Meta.
The meeting on Thursday was held having in the focus the situation created by the worldwide spread Covid-19 epidemics, which has also hit Albania, and its impact on the banking sector.
BoA’s Governor informed the President that the situation of the banking system continued to be liquid and well capitalized. “All measures have been taken for a normal continuation of the operational activity with the clients,” he said, adding that an analysis had been undertaken on the created situation. According to Sejko, BoA has the necessary instruments for maintaining the macroeconomic parameters and financial stability in Albania.
It is reported that the President appreciated the work of Albania’s Central Bank expressing the confidence that all the necessary measures would be taken to avoid the negative effects on both the banking system and the macroeconomic stability of the country./argumentum.al/
