TIRANA, January 19 – Any obstacle on the part of the Central Election Commission (CEC) to not register the commissioners of the Democratic Party (DP) on January 29, according to the vice president of this opposition political force, Oerd Bylykbashi, has a political background aiming at hindering the Democrats to participate in the electoral battle of May 14.
He clarified that the right to register in local elections of the Democratic Party stems from the decision that the Court of Tirana took on March 25, which recognized the statute of the Assembly of December 11, the dismissal of former President Lulzim Basha and the cancellation of the Assembly of December 18.
“There is a decision that is in force today and the constitutional principle is that the decisions of the courts are overturned only by a higher court and as long as a higher court has not made a decision, that decision is in force today,” he said.
According to Bylykbashi, any other action by the CEC or the Electoral College that will take a decision different from the one they set in 2019 as a precedent for the Political Obedience of Astri Patoz is a decision that has a political background aimed at hindering the DP.
“We will not allow this. So, we will go to ask for the registration, the commissioners as DP,’ said Bylykbashi. /Argumentum.al
