TIRANA, August 20 – The Central Election Commission (CEC) has determined the commissioners for the partial elections for the mayor of Kukës, which will be held on September 24.
Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi decided at the meeting on Saturday that the Socialist Party (SP) will have four members in KZAZ, the Freedom Party (FP) will be represented by two members, while the Democratic Party (DP) will have one member.
However, the legal representative of DP, Rezart Kthupi, claimed that the law does not give the Freedom Party the right to have two members.
“I judge that legally, the interpretation made by equating electoral coalitions with political parties and recognizing the rights to appoint commissioners according to Article 29 to the Freedom Party is unfounded,” he said.
But, despite his claims, the Commissioner followed the procedure and after the lottery, the seventh member of KZAZ 11 went to the socialists.
So the faction of the DP led by Lulzim Basha has one commissioner in the election commission in the upcoming partial elections in Kukes. The DP of Sali Berisha is part of the coalition headed by FP. /argumentum.al
