TIRANA, November 23 – The Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, stated on Thursday at the Third Edition of the Diaspora Summit that the Constitutional Court has set a deadline for the Assembly, which must make changes or additions to the Electoral Code.
In his speech at the “Foreign Policy and Diaspora” panel, Celibashi spoke, among other things, about the time when it may become possible for Albanians in the diaspora to become part of the electoral processes in Albania and have the opportunity to vote.
Celibashi said that the Constitutional Court has already set a deadline for the Assembly, which must make changes or additions to the Electoral Code by January 2024.
“The Constitutional Court has set a deadline for the Assembly of Albania, which is January 2024, within which the Assembly must make changes or additions to the Electoral Code,” he said.
“The issues, which the Constitutional Court has listed as necessary, are related to the process of registration or preparation of the voter list of those who vote outside the territory of the Republic of Albania and how their vote will be calculated,” he said..
The head of the CEC said the essence is to find a common compromise between the position and the opposition and they must sit down and offer a common solution regarding this issue. /argumentum.al
