The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel will be visiting Tirana on September 14th, local media reported on Wednesday.
Merkel will come in the frame of the Berlin
Process. This will be her last participation in this frame as she ends her mandate as leader of Germany.
All the government heads of the six WB countries will attend, but Serb President Aleksandar Vucic will not be present because of his post.
The Berlin Process is an initiative that was launched on August 28, 2014, by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin. This initiative has provided a unique contribution to WB6 regional cooperation, to investments in regional connectivity infrastructure, and to the reforms engaged by WB6.
During her visit to Tirana, Merkel is also expected to hold a press conference.
It will be an occasion to learn about the future of the process against the background of hearsay that it will be discontinued after Merkel leaves her post.
In the meantime Vucic announced that Serbia expects a big visit to Belgrade. “Chancellor Angela Merkel’s visit to Serbia is being prepared. I hope that the epidemiological situation will not worsen and that she will come,” he said without giving an exact date of the visit.
He made that announcement after dinner with Albanian and North Macedonia PMs Edi Rama and Zoran Zaev and on that occasionv Vucic said that the Open Balkans cannot be stopped because no one can find fault with it.
The three promoters of that initiative are attending the Bled Forum in Slovenia on Wednesday.
Vucic pointed out thathat he would be able to talk about a lot with Merkel, first of all, to find out the German views on the Balkans, as well as what to do in the future.
He pointed out that Germany cannot be considered an opponent, but on the contrary, it is necessary to have Germany on your side if you want to progress faster. Regarding the participation of Komsic and Dzaferovic at the Bled Forum, he said that he was not worried about their presence, but about how they did not reach a consensus. / argumentum.al
