TIRANA, November 2 – Amidst chaos the Albanian Parliament adopted in its Thursday’s proceedings some laws as the opposition had blocked the podium with chairs before the start of the proceedings. Even on Thursday, the Assembly’s hall turned into an arena of violence between the majority and the opposition.
“The opposition blocked the parliament and desecrated the solemnity that that hall should normally have. They turned the hall into an arena of fighting and violence,” said Socialist deputy Elisa Spiropali in a post on social networks.
According to her, Sali Berisha is the inspiration behind blocking the activities of parliamentary committees and plenary sessions.
Other Socialist MPs leveled charges against the opposition for the turmoil in the Assembly.
But the Chairman of the Reestablishment group in the Democratic Party (DP), Berisha said after blocking the floor of the Assembly with chairs that this was a temporary strike as, according to him, the shame of the parliament would continue. “We announced a temporary strike,” he commented on Thursday’s developments in the Assembly.
“I also told the socialist deputies that we have no business with them, we have business with (PM) Edi Rama, we have business with (Interior Minister) Taulant Balla,” declared Berisha, who added that the opposition demands its constitutional rights and they are determined to continue the resistance. /argumentum.al
