TIRANA – “The emergency situation related with the Covid-19 epidemic raises serious concerns in the production system. Up to now, the spread of Covid-19 in Albania is causing damage mainly to companies’ turnover, such as indicated by the poll conducted with our member companies,” said a press release issued by Confindustria Albania, an association of the Italian industrialists in Albania (Associazione degli Industriali Italiani in Albania), on Monday.
As it is said in the press release for Confindustria Albania it is a priority to maintain ongoing production guaranteeing continuity in supply and distribution flows, in specific interventions in the dynamics of employment, in social security benefits as well as in the support of company’s liquidity.
In face of the current situation, Confindustria Albania considers as necessary a continuous dialogue with business representatives to make effective and common decisions for supporting production activities, which are already suffering the great negative consequences related with the epidemic.
Therefore, the association of Italian industrialists has prepared, as it said in the press release, several proposals aimed at coping with the economic and social crisis caused by the progressive expansion of the epidemiological emergency.
Confindustria Albania unveiled a set of urgent interventions which, according to it, would give businesses great support. The proposals include among others an immediate guarantee of the liquidity of companies affected by the epidemiological emergency through suspension of taxes and payment of contributions. It also demands a homogeneous procedure throughout the national territory of the country to guarantee the productive continuity by avoiding fragmented and contradictory interventions by different government levels.
With regard to employees who are expected to stay at home due to interruption of activities, as well as those who are self- quarantined, it is required their treatment as sick being paid for by the social and health insurance fund for a period of at least one month. Another demand is the postponement of the deadline for the submission of financial statements for 2019 at tax offices. It is also proposed the avoidance of blocking company’s bank accounts because of tax liabilities for the duration of the infectious situation as well as the interruption of basic services such as electricity and water for reasons of default./argumentum.al
