TIRANA – Some 11 new cases infected with coronavirus were confirmed during the last 24 hours taking the total number to 223 persons while a 79-year patient passed away at the infectious hospital in Tirana, said Albana Fico, the director of the Albanian Institute of Public Health (ISHP) in her daily update on Monday.
The number of the tested persons was 90 which increases to 1526 the total figure of the persons tested in Albania, which entered the third week of the quarantine against Covid-19. With Monday’s new fatality it amounts to 11 the number of the victims of the pandemic. But, it is reported that there are 44 patients who have recovered and are placed at home quarantine.
According to the map of the spread of the epidemic it is noticed that Tirana, Fier, Shkodra, Tropoja and Korca evidenced the largest growth in number with the Capital recording 124 cases
Asked about the repatriated persons from abroad ISHP director Fico said that they had been confined and their cases are being followed by the family doctor. “Children are less affected and even if it happens the symptoms are light like in other countries of the world,” she said.
Further on Ms. Fico said there are 32 medical staff who are infected. In the meantime she announced that the ‘Covid 2’ hospital had been opened. “The ‘Shefqet Ndroqi’ hospital is a university hospital having all the capacities,” she said mentioning that it has 190 beds and capable medical staff.
“Resistance, resistance, resistance!” This was the urge of PM Edi Rama who published on Monday the graphics of the spread of Covid-19 in Albania and some other regional and world countries.
“The more we resist today the lower the rising curb of the spread of the epidemic will be which means fewer victims and less heavy pains. We will start to move out of this rigid defensive confinement step by step,” said Rama, who was apparently pleased that the curb of the pandemic is rising at lower rate in Albania as compared with other countries./argumentum.al
