TIRANA – The latest data made available by the Ministry of Health on Thursday reveal that 28 new cases infected by Covid-19 were confirmed during the last 24 hours marking the highest rise since the outbreak of the pandemic more than two weeks ago.
In the daily appearance before the press Eugena Tomini from the Institute of Public Health (ISHP) said the 28 new cases were found out from a total number of 103 tested persons. Thursday’s findings increase the total number of the affected people by the epidemic to 174 out of 1,144 persons tested across Albania.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic 6 persons have lost their life and there are 73 hospitalized patients in the infectious hospital in Tirana.
Ms. Tomini noted that there are 4 children among those confirmed as infected by the virus, but she did not tell if they are hospitalized. “Four children were confirmed positive as they were infected by contacts, but they do not show clinical signs and are in good health condition,” she said.
A new element in the update is that the map of those affected by Covid-19 has included Tropoja, a northeastern town of Albania bordering Kosovo. Tirana tops the list with 102 affected persons by the virus followed by Fier with 18 cases and Durres with 10 cases.
As in every daily update the statement released by the health ministry closes with the appeal to the citizens: ‘Don’t go to the hospital right away!’/argumentum.al
