TIRANA – A total of 43 cases of infected people with COVID-19 have been registered during the last three days in Albania the highest rate recorded in a 3-day span of time bringing to 933 the number of those affected since the outbreak of the pandemic in Mar 9 this year, according to evidence made available by the Health Ministry in the daily medical bulleting on Saturday.
As the country’s health main institution said most of the new cases in the last 24 hours were confirmed in the Tirana-Durres area, respectively 8 cases in Tirana, 8 cases in Durres and one in Kruja, mainly contacts of previous positive cases, but also new cases for which epidemiological investigation is being conducted. Meanwhile, 9 citizens have recovered in the last 24 hours.
The statement of the ministry reiterated that the growth of the new cases for the third day in a row clearly shows that the aware raising n of the citizens must continue, in order to respect the established measures, to minimize the spread of the virus to family contacts or beyond.
“To date, over 12.000 tests have been performed and 933 citizens with positive COVID-19 have been confirmed nationwide, and 77 percent of them have already recovered,” it was noted.
Currently there are 188 active persons infected with COVID-19, mainly in Tirana, Kruja, Shkodra, Durres, Kamza, Berat most of which are declared as red zones. However, the ministry declared that the situation in the hospitals has been stable for days. In two COVID hospitals, 19 patients are hospitalized and only 4 of them are in intensive care.
The weekend is characterized by a sort of confusion with regard to the current restrictions as citizens are focused on May 18 when the relaxed measures enter into force, and they are different for yellow zones and red zones. Government and specialists did not spare warnings, particularly on last night Friday’s TV shows, of people’s responsibility to avoid a new outbreak of the pandemic in the conditions of the relaxed lockdown by respecting the rules of living with the virus at the doorstep! /argumentum.al
