TIRANA – Wednesday’s update on the pandemic situation in Albania showed that 25 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded during the last 24 hours, bringing to 634 the total number of those affected in the country. Meanwhile, one person died on Wednesday due to the virus, bringing the number of victims to 27.
It is to be noted that more than half of the total number of Wednesday’s affected people are confirmed in the central town of Kruja (18 positive cases) where this situation goes on for some days in a row making the area of dangerous hotbed of Covid-19.
“Currently in our country there are 251 active infected people and as can be seen the number of recovering is higher. This trend has been going on for more than a week now,” said Deputy Minister of Health Mira Rakacolli. According to her, the number of recoveries has reached 356. Berat, Lezha, Mirdita, Rrogozhina and Tropoja are areas where all those affected from the virus have currently recovered.
“So far 6269 suspected cases have been tested and by their positive confirmed with COVID-19, 634 cases,” she said.
Further on, Rakacolli said that 11 other patients have bee n added to the list of cured patients taking the number of those recovered from COVID-19 to 356.
In the meantime about 40 patients are currently receiving medical care at two COVID hospitals in Tirana.
“Despite the fluctuations in the daily numbers of detection of virus carriers or patients, the situation is under controlled. The real indicator is the number of hospitalized patients, which continues to remain stable,” said the deputy health minister.
Rakacolli concluded by advising people to follow attentively all the instructions of the health authorities and the restrictions imposed due to the epidemic in the circumstances of the loosing of some lockdown measures. /argumentum.al
