TIRANA – As local health authorities warned citizens to be careful as coronavirus continues to be among them the data announced in Tuesday’s daily medical bulletin showed a worrisome rise of the infected persons with COVID-19 amounting to 17 from 8 a day before.
“I have a message to all citizens, as we are in the phase of reopening and moving, and we must be careful. The virus has not disappeared either from Albania, or from Europe, or from the world,” said Silva Bino, an expert at the Public Health Institute (ISHP), on Tuesday.
Bino said that the responsible behavior of the citizens is very important to pass this second phase of coronavirus smoothly, just as the first phase.
“The virus is circulating and for this we must be alert. We need to be responsible for our behavior, as individual behavior is very important at this stage of the spread of the disease,” said Bino, who cautioned that citizens should be as responsible as possible, not to hug, not to shake hands, but to keep distance from each other, as the virus can be transmitted during hugs, handshaking or touching objects.
Like in other regional countries handshaking and hugs are common among people in Albania a habit hard to be uprooted.
“Maintaining distance, hygiene, wearing the mask in crowded environments, in markets or shops that have more than two people, would help us protect ourselves and other people,” said Bino.
The new cases confirmed on Tuesday bring to 820 the total number of citizens affected with COVID-19. “Currently, there are 219 active persons infected by the virus. As it is seen there is a growth of the cases of identified infected people but also of those who are hospitalized during the last 24 hours,” said the daily update released by the Health Ministry on Tuesday.
The highest number of the infected people is confirmed in Tirana (9), Kruja (5) and Kamez (3) all of them considered as hotspots in this Balkan country which has entered the phase of easing the lockdown under strict advises by specialists for cautionary behavior of citizens. /argumentum.al
