TIRANA – As ‘International Nurses’ Day’ is marked in Albania with high gratitude to their work particularly in combating coronavirus pandemic the local health authorities reported on the lowest number of new infected cases on Tuesday.
“Some 243 citizens suspected of being affected by Covid-19 have been tested during the last 24 hours. Since the beginning of the epidemic, today marks the day with the lowest positivity in the country, compared to the total daily tests, with only 1.64%. In the last 24 hours, 4 citizens have tested positive, respectively 2 citizens in Kruja, 1 in Tirana and 1 in Berat,” said the Public Health Institute (ISHP) expert, Rovena Daja in the daily medical bulletin.
According to her evidence, the total number of infected people stands at 876 in Albania, while 28 citizens recovered in past 24 hours.
In the meantime new details have been made available for the media on the situation of prisoners who have tested positive for coronavirus in Albania. Of the 18 convicts and detainees who tested positive only three are currently active, and one of them is hospitalized with diabetes. The ISHP specialist was optimistic that the epidemiological situation in Albania is stable. “This stable condition is also confirmed by the figures of total active patients, 163. Only 24 of them are hospitalized and 1 out of 24 is in critical condition,” Daja said.
In a related health event nurses were honored by local authorities as ‘International Nurses’ Day’ is commemorated on Tuesday.
