TIRANA – Out of 204 citizens tested for Covid-19 five were confirmed positive during the last 24 hours and as a local health official said on Thursday while making public the latest medical bulletin three cases were reported in Durres, one in Tirana and one in Kruja. The three locations are considered as ‘read areas’ in Albania.
“The situation in the infectious disease hospital in Tirana has been stable with 14 hospitalized patients and only 3 of them in intensive care,” said the Director of the Health Service Operator, Mirela Cami, who announced, in the meantime, 13 patients recovered in the past 24 hours.
“So far, 969 citizens have tested positive for COVID-19 across the country, and about 80 percent of them have recovered. There are currently 167 active people with COVID-19, mainly in Tirana, Durres and Kruja,” Cami said.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, over 13,500 molecular and serological tests have been performed in Albania.
“Recently, Albania has seen a fluctuating curve in the number of cases reaching only one case, several days ago, then an increase up to 15 cases and later, again decrease,” said Cami. Specialists say there are no reasons for alarm because of such fluctuations which, according to them, are normal as the country has entered the next wide stage of eased lockdown. /argumentum.al
