TIRANA – “During the last 24 hours only 1 positive case was confirmed in Tirana out of 177 tests made to people suspected of being infected with Covid-19,” said a local epidemiologist in the usual daily update on Tuesday.
This is the the lowest number of new cases ever reported in Albania since the outbreak of the coronavirus infection on March 9 this year, and it coincides with the gradual reopening of the country where as a matter of fact most of the life activities restarted on Monday.
Epidemiologist Adela Vasili said that the total cases reached 949, but 78 percent of the infected have recovered. “There is good news in addition in relation with the number of active cases, 176 in total, only 17 of which hospitalized (3 in intensive care), as well as regarding the number of deaths, 31, which has not changed for more than 2 weeks.”
She said that there are 15 patients at the Infectious Diseases Hospital and they are in stable condition; only 3 of them are in intensive care.
“For more than two weeks we have had no loss of life, fortunately. To date, about 13,000 tests have been performed and 949 citizens across the country have tested positive for COVID-19. Of these, about 78% are cured. Currently in our country there are 176 active persons with Covid-19,” said Vasili./argumentum.al
