TIRANA – The unexpected happened in Albania’s evolution of the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday as 15 new cases were confirmed during the last 24 hours from just one registered on Tuesday, according to the daily medical bulleting released by the health ministry.
“During the last 24 hours, 186 citizens have been tested as suspects affected by Covid-19 and 15 cases have resulted positive… The number of those infected went up to 964 as the new cases were registered 13 in Durres, 1 Tirana and 1 in Shkodra,” revealed the bulletin made public by expert of Ministry of HealthFlutura Beqo.
Despite the changes, the expert assured that the situation is stable and under control in Albania, as it is shown by the number of active patients, 175, the number of hospitalised patients, only 15 (3 of them in intensive care), as well as the percentage of the recovered, 79%.
“The epidemiological situation is stable, based on the identification of new cases, their active investigation and the number of patients being treated at the hospital. During the last 24 hours, 186 citizens have been tested as suspects affected by Covid19 and 15 cases have resulted positive,” Beqo said.
The geographical distribution of active cases is as follows: Tirana (78), Kruja (46), Shkodra (15), Kamza (12), Durres (19), Berat (10), Fier (5), Elbasan (2), Mirdita (1), Korça (1), Kurbin (1).
Since the outbreak of the pandemic on 9 March this year, over 13,000 tests have been conducted and out of these 964 were confirmed infected, 745 have recovered, and 176 are considered active cases. The total number of fatalities stands at 31 so far. /argumentum.al
