TIRANA – “Given the latest data the current epidemiological situation in Albania seems stable,” has said Eugena Tomini from the Institute of Public Health (ISHP) in her daily medical bulletin of the pandemic progress made public on Saturday.
In the daily communication with the public, ISHP’s Tomini said that the number of people infected with COVID-19 has amounted to 798.
“During the last 24 hours, 171 people suspected of COVID-19 have been tested from north to south and cases of infected people were found only in three municipalities respectively in Tirana 5 people, 1 case in Kruja and 1 imported case in Kukes,” she said.
‘Since the outbreak of the epidemic, 798 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed across the country and out of these 519 have been cured. So far, 31 citizens have lost the battle with this disease, despite the efforts of the medical staff,” said Tomini.
“The transition of active areas to inactive areas for COVID19 has expanded the map of the cured patients across the country,” said the health official. “Currently in our country there are 239 active patients with COVID19 and most of them are being treated by the family doctor or are asymptomatic, while currently 31 patients are hospitalized at two COVID hospitals, that is at the infectious hospital and the “Shefqet Ndroqi” hospital.
Closing her daily briefing in an optimist note the ISHP expert Tomini had the following comment: “This is an important indicator that highlights the fact that the measures taken so far have made it possible for the health system not to be overloaded and to successfully cope with cases that have needed specialized treatment in hospitals.” /argumentum.al
