TIRANA, January 11 – Minister of the Interior Bledi Çuçi presented on Wednesday the achievements of the Ministry of the Interior during 2022 and the objectives for 2023, while guaranteeing that Albania will be one of the countries with the best infrastructure for cyber protection in the region and beyond.
In this regard, the minister informed that during the last year the investments in the State Police have increased, focusing on technology. “We have increased 7.6 times investments in the field of technology from the state budget. Also, starting from cyber attacks in 2023, we are working to establish a national agency for cyber protection,” he said.
He informed that for 2023, the creation of a joint special maritime control unit is foreseen. “We have budgeted for the purchase of equipment. There will be 40 water engines at the disposal of this unit, which during the summer period will patrol the coast of Albania to guarantee as much security as possible,” he said.
Importantly, Çuçi also appreciated the creation of the fixed DNA database with about 11,000 DNA samples, which constitutes a very good basis for increasing the detection of crimes. /Argumentum.al
