Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazovic was not dismissed because the majority of the deputies of the Parliament did not support the agenda which included the voting for his dismissal in plenary session on Thursday.
The dismissal of Abazovic from the position of the number two of the Montenegrin government and his replacement with the Minister of Finance and Social Welfare, Milojko Spasic was not voted in the extraordinary session of the Parliament, reported “Pobjeda” as well as other media in Albanian language.
Some 77 deputies voted for the agenda and the results were 20 in favor, 11 against, and 46 abstained. This agenda was supported only by part of the coalition “For the Future of Montenegro” which is run by Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic.
Immediately after the session, Deputy Prime Minister Abazovic commented that it was about the will of the people in parliament.
The short session of the parliament was also attended by Prime Minister Krivokapic, as well as Ministers Spajic and Jakov Milatovic. The request for an extraordinary session and the proposals were sent by the current Prime Minister, Krivokapic on January 19, after the URA, led by Abazovic and with the support of opposition MPs, presented an initiative of no confidence in the Government.
The no confidence vote against the Krivokapic Government, created in December 2020, is expected to take place on Friday, and the sentiments of people against the growth of the pro-Belgrade stance of the current premier are becoming more popular in Montenegro known for its pro- western orientation.
It was Abazovic who announced his proposal to form a minority government, which would gather 31 deputies from a seven-party coalition. Abazovic also introduced the concept of forming a new minority government in which there would again be no room for the Democratic Front (pro-Serbian party), but also for Milo Djukanovic’s largest opposition party, the DPS. / Argumentum.al
