TIRANA, May 18 – Deputies who followed the line of the Basha-Alibeaj are further deepening the division within the Democratic Party by creating factions within the faction. This was declared by the MP, Ervin Salianji according to whom a group of deputies in the DP faction headed by Alibeaj who resigned two days ago have started the division of posts, and this will be made public soon.
Meanwhile, some MPs have asked for unification and some others identified as close to former DP head Lulzim Basha have continued with the rhetoric that brought about the division of the Democratic Party, according to Salianji.
“Several MPs have started work on the division of posts, further dividing the party,” declared MP Ervin Salianji at the premises of the Assembly on Thursday.
Salianji did not mention the names of the deputies who are working for the new factions in the Democratic Party, but this was confirmed by the deputies who followed the line of the Basha-Alibeaj group, who said that the reorganization work has started.
Meanwhile, some MPs demanded the removal of Sali Berisha, considered as the founder of DP. The Democratic Party headed by Berisha managed to get over 500,000 votes in the frame of the coalition “Together We Win” but its result in the last local election was beyond the expectations.
On top of all this, DP lost its stronghold which is Shkodra, northern Albania. Other MPs asked for reflection on the situation, while describing Alibeaj’s ‘withdrawal’ as a continuation of Edi Rama’s game. /argumentum.al
