TIRANA, July 2 – Former US President Bill Clinton has been to Kosovo, he knows Kosovo, but he has never been to Albania, said Prime Minister Edi Rama giving details on his first visit to Tirana on July 3-4.
Clinton and the accompanying delegation will arrive in Tirana on Monday afternoon and at 19.00 will be received by Prime Minister Rama in a special official ceremony on the Boulevard “Dëshmorët e Kombit” in front of the Prime Minister’s Office with the participation of the capital’s citizens.
After the national anthems of the US and Albania are played, Rama and Clinton will make the ceremonial parade and honor the flags of the two countries. At 19.05, Prime Minister Rama will deliver the opening speech and the ceremony honoring the 42nd President of the US, Bill Clinton with the “Star of Appreciation for Public Achievements” will take place at 19:25, which will be followed by his speech.
“We will extend him an Albanian welcome, we will give him the opportunity to get to know a little of Tirana,” said Rama in the interview with euronews.al, revealing that his arrival was kept a secret only because of the change in Clinton’s agenda.
“I have invited President Clinton even before, this is a visit planned and anticipated for some time, which we have kept secret only for some reason of some surprise that could be the agenda of the American President and this meeting is to make possible the presentation of President Clinton to Albania,” said the prime minister. /argumentum.al
