TIRANA, August 4 – After the publication of a photo by the chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha, where former interior minister Saimir Tahiri is seen in a cell together with Klement Balili and Safet Bajri, the Directorate of Prisons reacted on Friday.
In a comment on this photo, the General Directorate of Prisons said that they were all accommodated in the same sector while serving their sentence and according to it, there is no violation in this photo. According to the Directorate of Prisons, this photo was taken by the staff of the IEPP “Kosovo e Lushnje” and the food they are consuming in the cells is always served in the rooms as there is no canteen.
“Regarding the claims of alcoholic beverages, it is obvious that there are bottles of water on the table, as well as glasses of soft drinks. In no case there was a violation, and based on the regulations, the consumption of wine or alcoholic beverages is prohibited in all IEVPs in Albania,” said the announcement.
The General Directorate of Prisons said that the photo in question was part of several photos taken by the staff of the IEPP “Kosovo e Lushnje” during a normal day at the Institution in accordance with the regulations in force. /argumentum.al
