TIRANA, September 16 – The chairman of the Democratic Party (DP) parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi has said that the DP should be unified and unnecessary debates that harm the opposition should be avoided.
“Some have decided to keep the conflict alive within the DP by defocusing attention from bad governance. I have made every effort to have a unification in the Parliamentary group to avoid unnecessary debates,” he said, adding that a very small part within the DP has not become part of this initiative.
Touching upon the debates in the Assembly regarding the chairman of the DP parliamentary group, Bardhi said that the Speaker, Nikolla is making a provocation to keep the debate alive.
“The Speaker of the Parliament is not the leader of the political parties, but she has the duty to implement the regulation. The regulation is completely clear for the chairman of the parliamentary group. It is not about the individual, but about the principles and functioning of a state. The numbers in the Assembly are clear and the Speaker cannot act as if she is out of political reality. (Former head of DP Lulzim) Basha is in the minority and does not enjoy the overwhelming support of a part of the parliament,” Bardhi said in a talk show on News24 TV on Saturday.
Regarding the start of the new parliamentary session, he said that the deputies should all be together and against the regime.
“Basha is showing that he does not have a fight with (PM) Edi Rama, but with Gazment Bardhi and this is his choice. I have chosen the strategy of only responding, it is not my mission to deal with Mr. Basha,” Bardhi said. /argumentum.al
