“Today’s meeting with the ambassadors focused on yesterday, today and the future.” This epich like answer of the chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha to the media that asked him about the meeting with the quint Ambassadors (US, EU, Germany, France and England) at the DP headquarters on Tuesday.
The meeting lasted about 75 minutes and it was required by the ambassadors who were received at the headquarters of the Democratic Party by the Deputy Chairman, Jorida Tabaku and the Secretary General Gazmend Bardhi.
“The visit of the ambassadors to the PD headquarters to meet Lulzim Basha was done at their request, said sources who pointed out that they offered to respond to some voices that claim that the ambassadors support Berisha’s movement,” reported News24.
The meeting was held after the tense situation created in DP and the verbal clash between the veteran leader of DP Sali Berisha and his protégé who has now turned his adversary Lulzim Basha.
A chaotic situation was created on Monday at PD headquarters after former Prime Minister Sali Berisha with 29 members of the DP Re-establishment Commission went to the DP headquarters where they held a meeting to deal with the referendum announced by membership for the dismissal of Lulzim Basha on December 18.
In the meantime Basha was holding another meeting at the same place after a series of meetings which dismissed dozens of senior officials of the DP and deputies because they took part in the Berisha initiated Assembly.
The referendum coincides with the DP Assembly called by Basha who as a matter of fact has been dismissed by the December 11 Assembly.
In addition, Monday evening was ‘saturated’ with tons of severe accusations against each other by Sali Berisha and Lulzim Basha. The latter said an anti-US group has been created in Tirana after 31 years from the fall of communism. US Ambassador Yuri Kim has come out openly in support of Basha as Berisha, the former most loyal ally of the United States, has been designated as persona non grata by the US State Secretary Anthony Blinken against whom a lawsuit has been filed by Berisha with a Paris Court accusing him of defamation.
Majority is not speaking too much saying it is an internal issue of DP but it openly supports Basha who has been denounced by Berisha as the chairman being held hostage by PM Edi Rama under the order of billionaire George Soros. /argumentum.al
