TIRANA, March 21 – The Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha, said in a meeting with DP supporters in Selenica, southern Albania, on Tuesday that never in history the population of a nation has been reduced so much as it is happening in Albania.
According to him, Albania is somehow experiencing one of the most dramatic moments of its national history, a moment in which the number of its people have been reduced and the country has been deserted in a fast and unbelievable way. “We gather at a time when statistics show that 38% of the citizens of Vlora have left the city during the last 9 years. We gather at a time when accurate statistics show that 34% of Albanians have left Albania going to EU countries and other countries,” said Berisha.
Further he said that 80% of those who left Albania are young people and this deepens the drama and the Albanian disaster even more because the truth is that if you lose 80% of young people you have lost an entire generation.
“Let’s unite and ask the question: Why are Albanians fleeing in this way, what is happening to Albania and the Albanians?” Berisha said. /Argumentum.al
