Democratic Party (DP) Deputy Chairwoman who is also head of the Commission of Inquiry into Waste Processing Plants, MP Jorida Tabaku has stated that the investigation ends on Friday, encouraging the special prosecution for serious and organized crime (SPAK) to continue the probe.
In a statement to the media in front of the Assembly headquarters, Tabaku said on Thursday that the investigative commission succeeded in making the public understand the affair of three incinerators, Fier, Elbasan and Tirana, worth 430 million euros.
“There is no Albanian who has not understood that the Albanian government has given 430 million euros without procedure and without competition to companies whose owners are under investigation, but at the same time are internationally wanted,” she said.
Subsequently, Tabaku called on the institutions that have not yet responded and started with the municipality of Tirana, to bring the written list of communication between institutions for the procedure under investigation by the Commission, which lacks the communication part of the municipality of Tirana.
“The Secretary General of the Prime Minister promised to bring the minutes of the meetings when the decisions for the incinerators were discussed. We expect from (top police Gledis) Nano to bring the movement of all persons we have requested. The Mayor of Tirana said that there is no decision of the municipal council. The three companies and their representatives could not explain where the money went,” she said.
But government officials, including PM Edi Rama, who gave evidence to the Commission, have rejected all the charges. The hearing session with Rama lasted 10 hours but he did not admit any involvement and instead said he was leading an environmental revolution in Albania.
Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku called unfounded the accusations of the opposition for the theft of 430 million euros in the construction of three waste treatment plants in the plenary session in the Assembly. According to her, the government dismantled the lies of the opposition leveled by the Commission. / Argumentum.al
