TIRANA, October 27 – Tirana will become the scene of a first-rate European political event on December 6 with the holding of the EU-Western Balkans summit for the first time in history.
This is what Prime Minister Edi Rama said at the joint press conference with the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen in Tirana on Thursday.
Von der Leyen paid a visit to Albania in the framework of a tour in the Western Balkan countries, which she started in North Macedonia on Wednesday. She paid a visit to Kosovo from where she came to Albania on Thursday. The next stop is Montenegro and the tour ends with the visit to Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“We also talked a little about an extraordinary event for Albania, the first in history. On December 6, we will have the Summit of the European Union with the Western Balkans in Tirana, and all European and WB leaders will come to Tirana for this summit,” said Rama.
For her part, Ursula von der Leyen said Albania is moving determinedly in the EU integration process. “Albania has maintained a very strong focus on the integration process and of course this has brought the negotiations.”
According to her estimation, the Albanian economy has become strong after COVID. The president of the EC said that the December 6 summit to be held in Tirana is of great importance. /Argumentum.al
