TIRANA, February 8 – Eight deputies of the opposition Democratic Party (DP) were expelled from the parliamentary session for 10 days on Wednesday. The Deputies, Luciano Boçi, Ina Zhupa, Albana Vokshi, Luan Baçi, Tritan Shehu, Ervin Salianji, Gazment Bardhi and Bledion Nallbati will not be allowed to follow the deliberations of two sessions of the Assembly.
The request for their exclusion was submitted by the deputies of the ruling Socialist Party after the situation that occurred in the plenary session last week with the blocking of the rostrum.
Many debates took place at the meeting held at the Voting and Ethics Committee on Wednesday, where the democratic deputies said that the review of the request should be done 48 hours after the filing of the request. They stressed that the request was made by 7 inactive deputies in the parliament and that the order was given by the head of the government, Edi Rama.
According to them, this decision constitutes a flagrant violation of the Assembly regulations and an act that violates pluralism in Albania.
Democratic deputies blocked the floor last week in the Assembly after the majority rejected the request to include in the agenda a motion with a debate with Prime Minister Edi Rama in connection with the ‘McGonigal’ case /Argumentum.al
