TIRANA – This weekend lockdown will be more relaxed for the elderly and children in Albania who will be allowed to leave homes on Saturday and Sunday, according to an announcement by Premier Edi Rama on Thursday.
Albania has witnessed a relaxation of the restrictive measures imposed because of the coronavirus pandemic since March 9 this year with a lot of small-sized businesses opening their shutters last Monday.
The elderly citizens will be allowed to go out on Saturday and Sunday from 5 until 10 o’clock in the morning instead of previous exits which were only on Saturdays from 5 to 11 am. Parents and children of 14-year old and younger will be allowed to go out on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 5:30 pm. As Rama said all other groups of citizens have to stay at home under mandatory lockdown during the weekend.
Another relaxation decision was that pharmacies and grocery stores will be allowed to open until 5:30 pm on Saturday while no businesses will be open on Sunday. Rama clarified that private cars will not be permitted to circulate on the weekend.
It is announced that new regulations on the curfew regime will to be announced after May 18 while the timeframe of the lockdown during the weekdays continues to be from 5.30 pm until 5 am in this Balkan country. /argumentum.al
