TIRANA, September 7 – The Albanian government will present a package to respond to the global electricity supply crisis through drastic saving measures and new price schemes, a topic which has been the focus of public concern in this Balkan country.
Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, said on Wednesday that the government will present the “Energy Package” on Thursday, which includes keeping the price of electricity unchanged up to 800 kWh of energy consumed by clients starting from October 1.
Balluku also said that the package contains some other drastic measures, but she did not elaborate.
“Together with the prime minister, we will present tomorrow the energy package, which, among other things, includes the 800 kWh band that will start implementation from October 1, but also some other drastic measures that we will have to take in the future,” Balluku said after the government meeting.
The Minister noted that some of the measures were framed taking into consideration the best European practices and some were adapted to the requirements of Albania, which is the poorest country in the Western Balkans and Europe. /Argumentum.al
