REAL POLITIK FLASH NO. 84
1 – 16 MARCH 2025
With “ flash” comments on 4 major events in only 1000 words by the well-known analyst,
DR. JORGJI KOTE
1.Europe riarmed! This was stated in the special EU Summit held in Brussels on 6th March 2025. The great news was the adoption of the proposal of the EU Commission for establishing a gigandic fund of 800 Billion Euros with the major geopolitical and military goal to rearm Europe in the face of the Russian aggresion and the new troubles from its Alliance with the USA; although the top diplomatic demarches to keep alive the greatest Alliance of shared fundamental values, principles and interests continue, Europe is preparing to be as soon as possible capable of defending itself! With the famous logo “ If you want peace, prepare for war!”
This special Fund will be accompanied with other economic measures, as the lift of budgetary constraints for defence and others. Meanwhile, the EU is in search of new alliances sop that it could be able to be a master of its own destinies. London is ready, very likely Ankara, two states with the most powerful armies after the USA.
These and other ongoing measures represent an epochal shift for the EU znd its Member States, in view of turning from a political, economic and trade and as “ soft power” by and large into a great Defence Union.

2. Germany’s epoch shift is starting with the creation of the new governmental coalition in Berlin between CDU/CSU and SPD. Under the EU example, the upcoming new Chancellor, Friedrich Merz with the social – democrat allies have agreed and adopted in the last present Bundestag session a Special Fund of 500 Billion Euro for defence. This fund will make it possible to recommission with full capacity the powerful german defence industry, the production of necessary armament and the modernization of armed forces. As the former Foreign Minister Joschka Fisher has recently stated, Merz has the chance to be like Adenauer, the Father and founder of the new modern democratic german state; he can break with the taboo that given its bitter past to become a great military power. And, as the former german President Joachim Gauk has said is not a “policy of war but of peace”!” But now Germany does not produce any more fear and danger for others, as it occurred during the two World Wars. Moreover that in the last 80 years, the new and unified Germany has proved to be with numerous evidence, facts and actions in the world and in the Western Balkans a champion of peace, stability and liberal democracy. Meanwhile, its better economic and financial position permits it to make investments and borrow large state loans to considerably strengthen the defence capabilities.

Together with other social measures this is done to prevent illegal migration that will make Germany much stronger for whoever would dare to infringe its territorial integrity. But also as a guarantee to protect other allied countries. Hence, instead of fear and suspicion now one can expect to hear the thanksfulness for Germany:
DANKE Deutschland!
3. “Spoiled soup“! This is how the 30- day ceasefire proposal adgreed by the US and Ukrainian senior officials on 10 March looks like. It was received with relief and hope, as the first step towards preparing the ground for lasting peace in Ukraine.
Following statements by President Trump that it is easier for him to deal with Putin than with Zelenski, Moscow reacted very moderately and only in principle to the American call. Moreover, the next day of this deal, when all were waiting to hear Kremlin’s response, Putin flew in military uniform to Kursk region demanding the soldiers there to continue the war and retake it. In fact, this Putin’s respose was expected, since he finds himself in very favourable political and military positions, especially in the last three months, encouraged a lot also by the new US “ carrot & appeasement diplomacy vis & vis Moscow and “ stick& coertion” against Kiev. Accordingly, Putin is not impressed from the ceasefire proposal; moreover, he is trying to use it to gain time and to strengthen further the position in the front line and additional guarantees with some geopolitical NO -s for Ukraine- NO in the borders prior to 2014, NO in NATO, NO US& EU troops and many other NO-s. Meanwhile, Ukraine is in inferior positions due to its loses in the frontline and now is between two big fires – Russian and now American.!

This is why, a genuine and lasting peace in Ukraine sounds much more “ wishful thinking” than a possible reality; besides, such a peace under the above-mentioned conditions would be capitulation and new occupation for Ukraine. But it would also produce a new dangerous precedent for the violation of international law and other possible Russian attacks in the future, now even aganist NATO member states, as in the Baltics or Black Sea area. Moreover in the conditions when the USA are reluctant to offer the security guartantees on the collective defence, under the famous Article 5 of the NATO Treaty or provide them with very hard conditions. This is why the talks on peace for Ukraine seem a “spoiled soup.“ !
4. Komissioner Kos presses on reforms! On 13 – 14 March was for her first visit in Albania. A routine visit, with standard meetings and plenty of diplomatic euphemisms. True, there was good progress made last year and now with he Accession negotiations with the EU. Soon it is also expected the opening of two other clusters and the next two until the end of this year.

However, it should not be exaggerated with butaphoric propaganda, especially when one thinks that we have officially opened these negotiations three years ago, but no one knows when will they be closed. Becaue Madame Kos stated that the reforms are the only decisive thing we need to do properly and on time. But these reforms ate not words or battutas like those of the Prime Minister, but major challenging processes; that is why Mme Kos said that when the negotiations will be over, she would climb our higest peak in Korabi Mountain! So, no glamour, no propaganda noise, let us embark into the difficult path of reforms, starting with the parliamentary elections on 11 May and with other major reforms which have started but many are only halfway. And they are not few until the eyar 2027 which is knocking on our doors.
